The only thing Erin loves more than radio is teaching (and--on a bad radio day--Morning Star Chik patties, introduced to her by pal Jen Nathan). During the summers she travels and camps with teens, helping them to create video and photo documentaries along the way (www.openroads.org). She loves that there's always a moment at the end of the trip when she is exhausted and in desperate need of a shower, and, inevitably, one of her students will say something like, "In the city, I don't have time to really see anything, but here, I have time. I hold time in my hands." And, with that, she is instantly re-energized.
For several years, Erin worked for the Public Radio Satellite System (PRSS/NPR Distribution), where she did everything from write their quirky employee newsletter to manage their presence at trade shows and public radio conferences. She attended the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in the fall of 2007 where she made story hunting her job.
Erin currently works for the Association of Independents in Radio (AIR) and, when she's not at the AIR office or off somewhere listening to radio, can be found at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, helping students to express themselves through video, photography, and sound. In her spare time, she's documenting a year in the life of her engaged friend, capturing tidbits like, "your best accessory is your smile" and "you're marrying the man of your dreams, yadda, yadda, yadda, but it's really all about the pictures."
