Somewhere between Durham, NC, Bolivia, and (apparently) Middle Earth exists Bombadil. The Duke University-borne quartet released A Buzz, A Buzz earlier this year on Ramseur and it has since garnered much praise for its off-kilter rhythms and occasionally rustic instrumentation, not to mention the challenge of summing up their sound in a few words. Reviews have drawn comparisons to everyone from Paul Simon (and there are instances that are reminiscent of "El Condor Pasa") to They Might Be Giants to labelmates and fellow North Carolinans the Avett Brothers. The band plays the Pickathon roots music fest this weekend (August 1-3) and joined us in the studio for some slightly stripped down versions of songs from their new release, plus a new one they labeled an "audio postcard."

Who Is Public Radio Redux?

Public Radio Redux was started by two friends who bonded over the joys and pain of making radio. Jen Nathan and Erin Mishkin met at the Salt Institute of Documentary Studies and quickly bonded over a shared love of podcasts and bloody marys. Rather than boring their friends with another unrehearsed live re-enactment of their favorite radio shows, they started this blog.
