Probably best known for his current gig as Decemberists drummer, John Moen's musical vita reads like a who's who of indie music over the past fifteen years or so. After co-founding the Dharma Bums in 1987, he went on to play with the likes of Elliott Smith, Heatmiser, and Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, among others, in addition to fronting The Maroons in the early part of this decade. His new project, Perhapst, has been a while coming with roots stretcing back to 2003. While it's a solo project for the most part, Moen got a little help along the way from former Dharma Bum cohort Eric Lovre, as well as Malkmus and fellow Jick Joanna Bolme. Perhpast's live line-up, as we had them for our session, is rounded out by Lovre, Chris Funk (Decemberists) and Jonathan Drews (Sunset Valley).
Hear our session with Perhapst Saturday night on opbmusic as part of the program In House. We'll talk to Moen and the band about classic rock, tour food and side projects, among other things. Hear it around 10:00 right here on our 24/7 online stream, our HD music channel (91.5 FM-2 in the Portland area), and on the radio stations of OPB.
