Folk/blues guitarist and singer Kelly Joe Phelps visited our studios recently for this opbmusic instudio session. He performs in his signature style, and talks about his early performing career as a jazz bassist, improvisation, moving to fingerstyle and slide guitar, welcoming the muse, and finding his voice over the years as a singer. Not to be missed in the interview: a tribute to the late Dave Van Ronk, and the most amazing guitar lesson you never had, as he demonstrates 3 different beginnings to the song "The Anvil," all leading to different versions of the song. Who Is Public Radio Redux?

Public Radio Redux was started by two friends who bonded over the joys and pain of making radio. Jen Nathan and Erin Mishkin met at the Salt Institute of Documentary Studies and quickly bonded over a shared love of podcasts and bloody marys. Rather than boring their friends with another unrehearsed live re-enactment of their favorite radio shows, they started this blog.
